End of year 2009 Print E-mail

At this time of the year, we once again sincerely thank you for your loyal support.  With the economic situation, we will continue to be careful with our finances and only engage in projects that are an absolute necessity until conditions improve.  The overall climate for the hotel-related enterprises in Aruba continues to be challenging and Royal Holiday suspended their administrative operations at Paradise Beach Villas - which affected our income as this closure was unforeseen and had been budgeted for the fiscal period. This loss affected the office space rental income only and Royal Holiday is still paying the maintenance fees for the rooms they own. For your information, the Beauty Parlour that was located in the lobby has expanded their operations and have moved into a portion of the area relinquished by Royal Holiday.  Additionally, Le Petit Café, a food and beverage facility which had operated at the Resort for the past ten (10) years, regretfully closed their doors at the end of November 2009 due to reducing business levels. This development will also serve to affect our income for 2010 as we had included this rental revenue in our projections.

In spite of the foregoing, we are pleased to report that we managed to complete the following capital projects:
• Two (2) new chillers have been installed on the roof of both Phases 1 and 2 so each wing now has a spare chiller.
• The elevator of Phase 2 has been replaced.
• We continue the room renovation project in Phase 2 with our in-house staff.  We have completed and only have three (3) more to complete the entire second floor.
• We have increased security at the Resort with a gate at the main entrance to the beach and we have also installed additional cameras at key areas around the Resort.
• For your added relaxation, we have placed larger tables on the balconies of the rooms.
• The sign at the main entrance has been upgraded
• For a reasonable fee, we now have wireless internet service at the Resort.

In other news, the Beauty shop and massage parlour(formerly located in the lobby) has expanded its services and is now located behind the Front Desk.  We encourage you to check them out on your next visit and continue to support them.

With the closure of Le Petit Café, we are now serving dinner in the Tiki Bar and Restaurant

REMINDERS
• Your maintenance fee is due and payable by December 31st. Please pay on time to avoid penalties. Please contact Jessica at the Resort or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have any queries in this regard.
• It is your responsibility to advise the Member Relations Department in writing of any changes to your mailing address or telephone numbers. Proof of acknowledgement by the Resort is required.
• To avoid confusion and possible disappointment, we request that you verify the dates of the week(s) you own since the actual dates may vary from year to year and also with other calendars.
• PLEASE ADVISE THE RESORT OF YOU WILL NOT BE USING YOUR WEEK AS WE CAN SCHEDULE MAINTENANCE IN THE UNIT IF IT WILL BE VACANT. This is even more important at this stage as we continue the renovations of Phase 2 and any available inventory would assist in having this project completed as soon as possible.
• If you are a shareholder and have not yet signed the register, please visit Bianca in her office located in the lobby of the Resort.
• We ask for your continued assistance in our energy conservation efforts by not using the air-conditioning unnecessarily, turning off lights when not needed, conservative use of water, only changing linens when necessary and any other ways that you feel would be useful.
